PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organ preservative, and to provide a method for using the preservative. SOLUTION: This method comprises giving an organ preservative comprising diisopropyl 1,3-dithiol-2-ylidenemalonate to an organ donor or applying the preservative to a provided organ directly. Thus the transplant is kept highly physiological and its ischemic reperfusion injury can be prevented.
