PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing container for a highly active material and its sealing method, capable of easily sealing the interior of the container in a closed state under the condition that an inert gas is confined in the interior under a predetermined pressure. SOLUTION: The sealing container comprises a container member 11 made of heat-resistant metal to store a sample 1 therein and a lid member 12 for the opening 11a of the container member. The opening of the container member is formed into the shape of a hollow cylinder, and the lid member has a cylindrical face 12a which is fitted into this hollow cylinder while leaving a gap therebetween. The opening 11a is closed with the lid member 12 and, under the condition that the interior of the container member is decompressed down to a predetermined pressure level through the gap, lap welding 14 of both the opening 11a and the cylindrical face 12a is performed to seal the interior.
