PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a post processing device efficiently performing the post processing, even if something abnormal occurs in a paper alignment medns, by prohibiting one post processing using the paper alignment means and implementing other post processing in the post processing device having the paper alignment device. SOLUTION: This post processing device can implement one post processing necessitating the paper alignment by the paper alignment means relative to the paper and the other post processing necessitating no paper alignment by the paper alignment means relative to the paper. This device is provided with an abnormality detecting means detecting the abnormality of the paper alignment means and a control means which so controls as prohibiting one post processing necessitating the paper alignment by the paper alignment means based on the abnormality detection means and as implementing the other post processing necessitating no paper alignment by the other paper alignment means and not necessarily necessitating the paper alignment.
