A tube for insertion into the body of a mammal has a tubular member having first and second ends and a lumen disposed therein which extends the entire length thereof; at least one feeding port extends through a wall of the tubu lar member near the first end and communicates with the lumen; an auxiliary tubing memb er is attached to the first end such that a lumen of the auxiliary tubular member does not communicate with the lumen of the tubular member; a pair of resonant circuit means is disposed within the lumen of the auxiliary tubular member such that the r esonant circuit means are spaced apart from one another; each of the resonant circui t means has a different resonant frequency, a bolus plug being affixed to the auxili ary tubular member at an end thereof which is distal from the tubular member to retain t he resonant circuit means within the auxiliary tubular member; the tube is empl oyed in a system for detecting the position of an object within a body of a mammal.
