PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane suitable for mass production, imposing a high yield and good selectivity. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane is to react carbon tetrachloride with vinyl chloride in the presence of a catalyst. An sufficient amount of iron and an amide compound are used as the catalyst to accelerate the reaction. |
