The invention relates to a method for marking a glass material, whereby a chemical element or a group of chemical elements is assigned to the glass material when in a molten state. To this end, the chemical element or the group of chemical elements is structured in such a manner that it emits a light or a light spectrum located outside of the wavelength range of visible light in order to improve the protection against falsification of the glass material.
