The invention concerns a method for making unsaturated nitriles and more particularly acrylonitrile from dinitrile compounds. The invention provides a synthesis process for unsaturated compounds comprising a conjugated nitrile function which consists in cracking of a saturated organic compound comprising at least two nitrile functions, in the presence of a basic catalyst. More particularly, the invention concerns acrylonitrile production by methyl glutaronitrile cracking.
