摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the nonuniformity of luminance. SOLUTION: The light L3 emitted from a light source 2 is reflected by the end edge surface (see a code 1a) of a light transmission body 1 and a liquid crystal panel P is irradiated with this light. If, in such a case, the light transmission body 1 is excessively larger than an image display region A, the degradation in light intensity and the local degradation in the image luminance are resulted but in the case of the display device shown in Figure, the sizes of the light transmission body 1 and the image display region A are nearly equal (i.e., the end edge surface 1a is nearly flush with the outer edge of the image display region A of the liquid crystal panel P) and therefore the excessive increase in the length of the optical path is averted and the local degradation in the luminance may be prevented.
