PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upper semicircle image detecting method which realizes sound semicircle detection against edge loss or positional deviation, etc., due to noise. SOLUTION: A pattern retrieving part 2 retrieves a pattern that coincides with a retrieval start condition in an input image 1. It is checked whether or not the distance between the position of a middle point and the left or right edge from the upper side of the retrieved pattern in a vertical scanning direction exists in the range of a dictionary 4, and when the number of lines existing outside the range is less than a prescribed threshold and reaches up to a prescribed radial value, it is decided that a semicircle is detected. |
