PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-dimensional optical fiber array having a versatile two-dimensional array with a high positional accuracy. SOLUTION: The array is composed of n sheets of substrates (n substrates), which are laminated with each other with a pitch Pv in the y-direction, and n×m pieces of optical fibers (n×m optical fibers) the end face of which is arrayed in the n×m (m, n >2) matrix in the xy plane. The n substrates are each formed into a principal plane parallel to the zx plane, extended in the z direction, arrayed in the x direction with a pitch Ph, and provided with m pieces of grooves (m grooves) whose cross section in the xy plane is V-shaped. The n×m optical fibers are each arranged in each of the m grooves in the n substrates, while the position in the x direction of each of the m grooves in the n substrates is different in each adjacent substrate by a prescribed shift quantity S.
