PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information distribution system capable of reliably providing an individual outside the home with information directly related to a place where the individual is, and also a transmitter and a portable information terminal used for the information distribution system. SOLUTION: This information distribution system has the transmitter (3) for transmitting information speciabled for a place where the user (2) carrying the portable information terminal (1) is located by radio waves and notifies the user (2) who enters an effective range where radio waves reach from the transmitter (3) of the specified information through the portable information terminal (1).
