WAVEGUIDE TYPE OPTICAL SWITCH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide type optical switch which is lessened in the loss and the variation in the loss by optical axis misalignment. SOLUTION: The core diameters of the segments where input optical waveguides 5 and 6 and output optical waveguides 12 to 15 face each other in the segments where the optical paths of the waveguide type optical switch for mechanically switching the optical paths of light signals are switched are changed to a taper form, by which the spot size of the light signals may be enlarged and therefore the coupling efficiency of the light may be improved and the lessening of the loss is made possible and the increase of the loss with respect to the misalignment quantity may be suppressed.
