PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately cope with the mechanical abnormality of a fixing device. SOLUTION: In the fixing device for performing fixing processing by an induction heating system by using an exciting coil, flyback voltage generated at the exciting coil is detected and the mechanical abnormal part of the fixing device such as a heating roller and metallic heating film is detected based on the fluctuating state of detected flyback voltage, so that electric power supply to the fixing device is stopped.
