PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sliding of a power transmission member from being generated even when a temperature of a hydraulic fluid is low. SOLUTION: Since the maximum value of a volume change rate in an input side hydraulic cylinder 42c accompanied to variable speed is limited to restrain pressure from lowering caused by the change rate, as the maximum value of a variable speed in a belt type continuously variable transmission 18 by a variable speed limiting means 96 based on the temperature Toil of the hydraulic fluid detected by an oil temperature sensor 78, a shortage in the input side hydraulic cylinder 42c is eliminated to prevent the sliding of the transmission belt (power transmission member) 48. Any disturbance in a variable speed control operation does not exist within a range until the variable speed reaches to the maximum value of the variable speed, and a variable speed control characteristic is kept favorable.
