PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positron emission tomography(PET) system capable of assuring good a good photon (γ-ray) pair detecting sensitivity and quantitativeness while improving a resolution of a reconstituted image. SOLUTION: A detecting section 10 and slice collimators 211-2111 are integrally moved in a direction parallel to a central axis relatively to a specimen 2 by a moving means 40. Some of the photon pairs generated in a measuring space 3 during a period of this relative movement reaching the section 10 without being shielded by the collimators 211-2111 are simultaneously detected by a pair of photon detectors contained in the section 10, and stored in a simultaneous count information storage unit 50. Respective cylindrical detectors 13n are two-dimensionally arranged on the cylinder in which a plurality of photon detectors for detecting the photons flowed from the space 3 surround the central axis.
