PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of troubles such as a reduction of an engine output, a rise of fuel consumption, an increase of the blow-by quantity of an air-fuel mixture, and a deterioration of an acceleration property caused by changes of the ratio between a leading air quantity and an air-fuel mixture quantity and to improve engine performance by keeping the ratio constant independently of the engine speed in a stratified scavenge two-cycle engine. SOLUTION: This stratified scavenge two-cycle engine is provided with a scavenge port scavenge section where the air in a scavenge passage is fed into a combustion chamber by the pressure in a crankcase when a scavenge port is opened by the upper edge of a piston at its descent and a scavenge port intake section where the air in the scavenge passage is fed into the crankcase when the scavenge port is opened by the lower edge of the piston at its ascent at a delay after the opening of an intake port.
