PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which has excellent impact resistance, is lightweight and has portability and to provide its assembly method because the magnetic disk device does not have removability from the problem that it is heavy, has poor impact resistance, and has exposed electronic part, etc. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk device houses, in a case 10: a spindle motor 2 mounting a magnetic disk 3; a carriage 6 mounting a magnetic head to perform recording and reproduction; a park mechanism for retreating the head from the magnetic disk surface at the time of standby when no recording or reproduction is performed; an integral rigid frame 1 on which the spindle motor, carriage and park mechanism are mounted; and a frame assembly mounting the spindle motor, carriage and park mechanism on this rigid frame.
