PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a domain term preparation system and method for extracting the terms of a specified field from an existing system and an electronic document, imparting meanings and making them into a dictionary. SOLUTION: This domain term dictionary preparation system 1 is provided with a conversion means 30 for reading a domain document regarding the specified field from the existing system 10 and the electronic document 20 and converting the domain document to a unified code, an extraction means 40 for extracting the terms regarding a domain from the domain document converted to the unified code and displaying the terms to a manager terminal 100, the manager terminal 100 for adding the meanings to the display terms and storing them in a domain term data base, a domain term dictionary 60 composed by editing the domain term data base 50 and a user terminal 200 for retrieving the domain term dictionary 60 and displaying the domain term and the meaning.
