Seedless fruit production

A method for the production of seedless fruit, particularly apples, is disclosed. The method involves a genetically modified fruiting plant that does not express a functional MdPI protein and/or a functional MdAP3 protein. This can be done by introducing a DNA construct including a promoter and a termination region, and either a non-coding region of either of the nucleotide sequences coding for MdPI or MdAP3, a coding or complete sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 3, the nucleotide sequence coding for the amino acid sequences of SEQ ID NO: 2 or SEQ ID NO: 4 or a nucleotide sequence complementary to the sequence coding for the amino acid sequences of SEQ ID NO: 2 or SEQ ID NO: 4.
