摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object-position detection method in which the position of an object in the sea can be detected with good accuracy. SOLUTION: A time equation indicated in expression (a) is prepared with reference to each reference position in such a way that the depth up to a transponder to be detected, on the bottom of the sea is divided into a plurality of layers (N layers), that a sound velocity (Cn) in each divided layer (hn) and a parameter (km) regarding the angle of refraction of acoustic waves are set as unknowns and that the sum total value of passage times (Δτmn) of the acoustic waves in each layer is equal to the measured transmission time (τm). A distance equation indicated in expression (b) is prepared with reference to each reference position in such a way that the sum total value of horizontal distance components of the acoustic waves when they pass the respective layers is equal to the horizontal component of a shortest distance between the reference position and the object to be detected. When the equations are created, the place of the reference position is formed to be by one piece more than the number of divided layers of the depth.
