PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detector allowing the reductions in size and thickness and the increase in imaging area to be compatible and being easy to manufacture. SOLUTION: A solid state imaging element 2 having a photodetector disposing a plurality of photoelectric converters 21 and electrode pads 22 electrically connected to the element 2 is placed on a base 1, and a scintillator 3 is formed on the surface of the photodetector. Positioning parts 14-16 each projected upward from a placing surface for placing the element 2 of the base 1 and positioning the element 2 at its sidewall are provided around the placing surface, and their top surfaces are formed so that the photodetecting surface of the element 2 is higher in height than their top surfaces.
