PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network management system where an SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) agent can take a proper measure on the occurrence of a network fault. SOLUTION: The network management system 10 has an SNMP manager 1 that stores MIB(Management Information Base) information to an MIB database 6 and SNMP agents 2-5 that informs the SNMP manager 1 about the MIB information. The SNMP manager 1 transmits the MIB information stored in the MIB database 6 to the SNMP agents 2-5 in response to a request from the SNMP agents 2-5, and the SNMP agents 2-5 request the SNMP manager 1 on the distribution of the MIB information stored in the MIB database 6, collect the MIB information sent from the SNMP manager 1 in response to the request and control communication managed by the SNMP agents according to the MIB information.
