PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice browser and conversion system capable of making a web site voice-friendly. SOLUTION: This voice browser and conversion system is provided with text/speech conversion software for reading a web page and a mechanism for navigating to the next page by a simple key stroke or speech recognition. An end user requests access to a computer through a basic telephone set and navigates a computer network, and by preparing a mask on the page by the end user, customized news and other information are retrieved and specified requested web page is accessed. Each end user customizes the page for an individual possibly containing the main information of sports and weather, etc., and accesses the original individual page through the telephone set or the other device such as a personal digital assistant.
