PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of melting municipal waste and sludge capable of producing slag excellent in stability and volume reduction from stoker ashes by incinerating the municipal waste. SOLUTION: Sewage sludge is incinerated to melt in a fluidized incinerator 2 and a revolving ash melting furnace 3, and municipal waste is incinerated in a stoker furnace 1. The ashes at the bottom of the stoker furnace 1 are cast into the fluidized incinerator 2, while the fly ashes of the stoker furnace 1 are cast into the revolving ash melting furnace 3 to be melted and slagged. The existing stoker ashes of the stoker furnace 1 can be also processed easily.
