PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel control device for internal combustion engine, which can find defects in a fuel system accurately by using a linear air-fuel ratio sensor. SOLUTION: This fuel control device includes a means 23 for determining air-fuel ratio feedback control conditions CF, a feedback control means 24 for making an actual air-fuel ratio AFr conform to a target air-fuel ratio when the control conditions are permitted, a target temporary defect time air-fuel ratio setting means 21 for setting the target air-fuel ratio to a theoretical one when a target air-fuel ratio AFo is set to a ratio other than the theoretical air-fuel ratio and a feedback control quantity AFc or air-fuel ratio deflection shows a first specified state, and a defect finding means 25 for finding defects in a fuel system when feedback control quantity or air-fuel ratio deflection shows a second specified state with the target air-fuel ratio set to the theoretical one.
