PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unstable combustion due to excessive advancement of fuel injection timing while preventing electric excitation to a glow plug in an unnecessary time. SOLUTION: When low-temperature combustion, in which soot is hardly generated because an EGR gas amount fed into a combustion chamber 5 is higher than an EGR gas amount generating a peak amount of soot, is carried out and advancement of the fuel injection timing beyond a predetermined fuel injection timing is not adequate, advancement of the fuel injection timing beyond the predetermined fuel injection timing is stopped, and current is carried to the glow plug 60, so that atomized fuel ignitability and combustion can be stabilized.
