PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface wave element, with which spurious signals hardly occurs, even if a second surface wave is reflected on an end face and which has satisfactory resonance characteristics, and to provide a producing method therefor. SOLUTION: For the surface wave resonator constituted by forming end faces 111 and 111 for generating a first surface wave and the second surface wave which is to be mainly displaced almost orthogonally the propagating direction of the first surface wave and reflecting the second surface wave, surface wave vibrators 100 and 200 are constituted, so that the end faces are formed by etching end faces formed through etching.
