PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively supply an input signal power to an amplifying element by performing satisfactory impedance matching all times, in spite of the fluctuations in the input signal power and to reduce the distortion of an output signal. SOLUTION: This microwave amplifier has: a first transistor for amplifying a microwave signal inputted from a signal source to the base thereof; and an input matching circuit which is an LC circuit provided between the signal source and the base of the first transistor for performing impedance matching between the impedance of the signal source and the input impedance of the first transistor. The first inductor or first capacitor of the input-matching circuit changes corresponding to the power of the microwave signal, and the reactance component of the input matching circuit changes. Thus, although a change occurs in the input signal power, impedance matching can be performed between the impedance of the signal source and the input impedance of the first transistor.
