PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems, such as heterogeneity and chipping of a portion of a metallic film. SOLUTION: A mask tube 2 is put on part of an optical fiber end 1 from which a coating is removed. The metallic film 3 is deposited by a coating method, such as a vacuum vapor deposition method, on the segment of the end 1 exposed without being coated by the mask pipe 2 and after the deposition, the mask tube 2 is removed from the optical fiber end 1. The mask tube 2 put on the optical fiber end 1 is fixed to the end 1 and after the deposition, the fixation of the optical fiber end 1 and the mask tube 2 is released and the mask tube 2 is removed from the optical fiber end 1. The mask tube 2 is formed as a glass capillary and the front end 4 of this glass capillary is fused and fixed to the front end of the optical fiber end 1 and the fused and fixed front end 4 of the capillary and the front end 5 of the optical fiber end 1 are cut away after the deposition. The remaining capillary is removed in its axial direction and is removed from the optical fiber end 1.
