<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a helical scan type magnetic tape recording and reproducing device which can prolong the life of a battery when this battery is used. SOLUTION: This helical scan type magnetic tape recording and reproducing device has a loading motor for driving a first mechanism section for winding the magnetic tape from a magnetic tape cassette around a gape guide drum consisting of a rotary drum having a magnetic head and a stationary drum and a second mechanism section driven according to the changeover of a mode and a motor drive circuit for driving this loading motor. The device described above has a current limiting means for limiting the current to be passed to the loading motor and a current limiting period fixing means for setting the current limiting period in the current limiting means to a short period necessary for limiting the rush current flowing to the loading motor from the start of the loading motor.</p> |
