PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suppress peak power generation with respect to portable information equipment and a power saving mode switching method and a recording medium for storing a power saving mode switching program. SOLUTION: In information equipment including a constituting element 1 such as a processor and a constituting element 2 such as a magnetic disk device, whether a peak power generation condition or a peak power end condition is set is judged on the basis of access information to the constituting element 2, and a power mode change request is issued to a power mode changing means 4. A normal power mode is switched to a power saving mode in which reducing operation voltage and clock frequencies are reduced at the time of detecting the peak power generation condition, and the power saving mode is switched to the normal power mode at the time of detecting the peak power end condition by the power mode changing means 4 for the constituting element 1 such as the processor.
