PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a mounting position with high accuracy by suitably setting a threshold value, which determines a light-emitting point of a light- emitting element, according to brightness. SOLUTION: In a step of detecting a brightness distribution, a brightness distribution is detected by emitting a laser diode. Subsequently, in a step of determining an emitting point, a line approximate to a straight line is obtained according to a predetermined threshold value on the brightness distribution, and a light-emitting point is determined by the intersection of the line approximate to the straight line. And then, in the step of determining a light-emitting point, an average value of a minimum value (MIN value) and a maximum value (MAX value) of the brightness distribution (that is, (MAX value-MIN value)/2) is used as a threshold value. Therefore, a light-emitting point can be determined by a threshold value depending upon the brightness of the laser diode. Next, in a mounting step, a mounting position of a semiconductor device is determined by a light-emitting position obtained in the step of determining the light-emitting point, and a mounting operation is carried out.
