PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an idling rattling noise generated between meshing gears in a gear train by lowering a lubricating oil level in a gear box to reduce rotational resistance of a transmission, in a low speed.low load driving condition such as an idling condition. SOLUTION: A lubricating oil inside the gear box comprising a main casing 4 and a sub-casing 10 of the transmission 1 is recovered to a reservoir 83 of a lubricating oil supplying and discharging mechanism 80 through piping 84 in the low speed.low load condition. The resistance applied to the gear train by the lubricating oil is reduced when the gear train is rotated in response to each speed gear stage N1-N5 or the like by lowering the oil level of the lubricating oil in the gear box, and the idling rattling noise generated in the gear train is restrained thereby. When the oil cooler 70 as an oil cooling device for the transmission 1 is used, the piping 84 of the mechanism 80 is connected to cooling piping 72 to simplify piping structure.
