摘要 A tire has a bead whose axially inner end lies on a larger diameter circle than its axially outer end. When fully inflated the meridian profile of a radial carcass reinforcement has a constant curvature and a line forming a tangent to both one surface of the reinforcement and the bead is at /- 45 deg to the bead. Independent claims are included for the following: (a) The above tire where in cross section the tire has a crescent shaped reinforced profile. One surface of the crescent matches the radial carcass reinforcement. (b) As (a) where the tangent angle is 45 - 70 deg and the radial carcass reinforcement is wound around the bead to form an external turn up. (c) A wheel rim has a central rib for supporting a deflated tire lying between two frusto-conical seats at 4- 30 deg to the wheel rotation axis. Beyond each seat is another frusto-conical surface. (d) An assembly of (b) and (c). Preferred Features: A tangent to the other surface of the crescent shaped profile is 20 deg larger than the first tangent. The tire has an axially outward extending part at the rim that contacts the tire wall when the tire is deflated.
