METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR POSITIONING TAB TAPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position a TAB tape through a simple mechanism. SOLUTION: In a TAB handler, an up/down base is moved upward through an up/down drive mechanism. A plurality of positioning pins provided in correspondence with the sprocket holes of a TAB tape are interlocked with upward movement of the up/down base to be inserted into the sprocket holes. A movement of two directional components is produced in the pins based on interlocked movement through a cam shaft and rotary movement of a spline shaft through other cam mechanism and a movement of one directional component is produced, based on rotation/movement caused by movement through the cam shaft or rotation/movement of the cam mechanism transmitted through a spline shaft. Positioning is effected accurately by moving the plurality of pins oppositely in the horizontal direction thereby imparting a tension to the positioning range of the TAB tape.
