PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at down-sizing, thin formation and reduction of manufacturing cost of a connector, by making the size in insertion direction of a contact of a housing smaller. SOLUTION: In the connector 1 wherein a housing 10, plural housing rooms 20 which are installed at every predetermined distance in the housing 10, plural contacts 50 that are respectively housed in the contact housing room 20 house, a housing lance 30 which is installed at the housing 10 and which locks a notched part 52 of the contact 50, and a retainer 40 which is installed at the housing 10 and which locks a stabilizer 54 of the contact 50 are equipped, and wherein the notched part 52 is positioned at a more front side in the insertion direction of the contact than the stabilizer 54, a tip end part 41 of this stabilizer 40 and the housing lance 30 are made to alternately stand in line in a contact array direction when the tip end part 41 of the retainer 40 is in a contact locking position to lock the stabilizer 54 of the contact 50.
