PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold-storage freezer in which solenoid valves are used instead of mechanical pressure-valves provided in high and low pressure tubes respectively, and a phase difference can be simply produced between the pressure fluctuation and the position fluctuation. SOLUTION: This cold storage freezer is equipped with the cold-storage devices 16 and 18 filled with cold storage medium and provided in cylinders 13 and 14 in a manner to be capable of reciprocal movements, the expansion chambers 15 and 17 constituting cooling stages partitioned by cold storage devices disposed at the ends of the cylinders, a compressor 53 for supplying a compressed gas to the expansion chamber, a high pressure solenoid valve 51 disposed in a path connecting the compressor discharge side and the expansion chamber and for supplying a refrigerant compressed in the compressor into an expansion space, a solenoid valve 52 disposed in the path connecting the intake side of the compressor and the expansion chamber, for returning the refrigerant in the expansion chamber to the compressor, a detector 50 for detecting that the cold-storage device reaches the bottom dead center, a controller for actuating both the solenoid valves at a predetermined time difference under signals from the detector, and a drive motor 29 for reciprocating the cold storage devices.
