PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method of measuring a damage of a panel for a vehicle capable of accurately and readily measuring a depth dimension of a damage of the panel. SOLUTION: This device 10 comprises a cylinder section 26 and a piston section 28 which are, in a vertically movable condition, engaged with a width dimension gauge section 18 bridging leg sections 16a, 16b. A reference face setting means sets a relative position between the cylinder section 26 and the width dimension gauge section 18 at a time when the piston section 28 is fixed to the cylinder section 26 in a condition that the piston section 28 is contacted to a reference face not having a damage. A depth dimension measuring means obtains a depth dimension from a displacement amount of the relative position between the cylinder section 26 and the width dimension gauge section 18 at a time when the cylinder section 26 is vertically moved in such a manner that the piston section 28 in a condition that the piston section 28 is fixed to the cylinder section 26 is contacted to a damage generated face A.
