PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device that facilitates alignment of an optical axis to a lens unit and can select the lens unit of a comparatively free shape and size, and to provide a cover and the lens unit for the solid-state image pickup device and a cover and a board that can easily position the solid- state image pickup device on a board other than the board bonding a solid-state image pickup element. SOLUTION: In the case of connecting the solid-state image pickup device 1 where the solid-state image pickup element 13 is bonded to the board 14 and is configured to cover the solid-state image pickup element 13 with the board 14 by a cover 10 to the lens unit 2 via the cover 10, the mutual connection is positioned by engaging a 1st engagement section 121 with a positioning section 21 provided to corresponding positions. Furthermore, a 2nd engagement section 122 of a pin-like shape is projected from the cover 10 and penetrated through the board 14 and the penetrated tip is fitted to a positioning hole 31 of a printed circuit board 3 on which the solid-state image pickup device 1 is mounted for the positioning.
