PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for ending the initial drive of a solenoid driven valve at a suitable period of time in an internal combustion engine having the solenoid driven valve. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine having the solenoid driven valve, in the case of initial driving the solenoid driven valve including a magnetic body displacing interlocking with an intake valve or an exhaust valve, an elastic member for elastically supporting the magnetic body in the neutral position between the valve opening side displacement end and the valve closing side displacement end, and an electromagnet for generating the electromagnetic force for displacing the magnetic body to the valve opening side or the valve closing side when exciting power is applied, the initial drive of the solenoid driven valve is ended when the magnetic body is put in the operating state of enabling the magnetic body to displace to the valve opening side displacement end or the valve closing side displacement end.
