PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope apparatus which is capable of measuring the information on the length of an insertion wound around a drum regardless of a power source and can electrically output the same at need. SOLUTION: A gear 3-18 at the outer peripheral end of a second side plate 3-7 of a drum section meshes with a gear 4-43 mounted at a shaft 4-13 extended to face the cylindrical surface of a cylindrical member 3-5 around which the insertion portion 2-1 is wound. The outer peripheral surface of the shaft 4-13 is provided with external threads 4-15. When the gear 4-43 is rotated, a moving member 4-16 provided with internal threads moves and a lever 4-21 of a slide volume control 4-20 connected together therewith to a variable resistor end is moved and the length of the insertion portion wound around the cylindrical member 3-5 is mechanically detected regardless of the on/off of the power source, by which the electric output of this length as a value of electric resistance, etc., at need is made possible.
