PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a read picture quality by suppressing the change of an image by correcting the output change of an image sensor caused by the electric fluctuation of a light source before and after scanning stop even while a fluctuation in the quantity of light from light source rising to light quantity stabilization is considerably large as for an image reader for storing image data in a memory and transferring them to an external device by intermittently performing exposure scanning. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a temperature detecting part 80 for detecting a temperature fluctuation for each of R, G and B of the light source just after original scanning is stopped, a RAM 53 for storing the relation of the temperature fluctuation detected by the temperature detecting part 80 and the output of a color CCD 50 as a correction value, and a CPU 51 for correcting the output of image data according to the correction value stored in the RAM 53.
