The fuel, after thermal and mechanical treatment in a de-watering plant (I), is broken up and stored hot in an inert atmosphere in a heated bunker (6), where further evaporation occurs, the evolved vapor is used to create and maintain the inert atmosphere in the bunker. Steam (c) arising from de-watering plant and bunker is used, in a heat exchanger (4), to pre heat the combustion air (e). Steam from the boiler is used if necessary to regulate the atmosphere in the bunker. On leaving the bunker, the de-watered fuel is pulverized (8) before combustion. Air from the condensate chamber (13) is fed to the combustion air supply. |
