The device has measurement units with transmit/receive devices for sending query signals to an object with a transmit/receive device and receiving a response signal from it. Each unit can send a temporarily altered query signal to the object, which can return a corresponding response signal. Each unit has an evaluation device for determining the unit-object distance based on the query signal, the altered query signal and the response signals. The device has a number of measurement units (1), each with a transmit and receive device for sending a query signal to an object (2) with a transmit and receive device and for receiving a response signal from the object. Each measurement units is suitable for sending a temporarily altered query signal to the object and this is suitable for returning a corresponding response signal. Each measurement unit has an evaluation device (13,14) for determining a measurement parameter which is a measure of the distance between the unit and object based on the query signal, the altered query signal and the response signals. |
