A process of purifying an organic compound (e.g., an alkyladamantyl ester) of a crude state obtained in the production process and contaminated with subliming substances having sublimation= initiating temperatures lower than the boiling point of the organic compound by simple distillation without any adverse effect due to the adhesion of the subliming substances to thereby obtain the objective organic compound efficiently. Specifically, the above distillation is conducted in the presence of a compound (e.g., a carbonyl compound) having a boiling point lower than that of the objective organic compound. For example, 2-methyl-2-adamantyl methacrylate (b.p.: 92°C/0.3mmHg) contaminated with subliming substances such as adamantane (whose sublimation-initiating temperature is lower than room temperature) is distilled in the presence of 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone (b.p.: 225 °C).
|
