Adjoining chain links are pivot-connected by hinge elements(4) located on both sides of the base body(3) with regard to the direction of travel(2). Side guiding elements(6) are located on the underside of the base body, and rolling bodies(9) fitted in bearing cages are located on the upper side of the body and form a load bearing surface for the objects being transported. The rolling bodies may be balls or rollers with their rotational axes orientated at right angles to the direction of travel of the conveyor.
