The invention relates to a hinged rigid sail with aerodynamic profile, comprising three vertical elements A, B and C called modules. Each of said modules comprises three horizontal elements called sections A-1, A-2, A-3; B-1, B-2, B-3; C-1, C-2, C-3; (see figure 1). Module A, A-1 front section, has a leading edge (1), jibsails (5) and a cogged wheel (7); A-2 comprises the central section of the profile and contains a rotating axle of the sail (9), an electric or hydraulic motor to actuate the cogged wheel (6) and an electrical or hydraulic motor to actuate cogged wheel (7); A-3 is the third section and contains a cogged wheel (6) and a trailing edge (2). The electrically or hydraulically actuated cogged wheels provide curvature to the sail and suitably alternate the lee side and the windward side. The axle (9) has two functions: to rotate the sail and orient it towards the wind and to transmit the thrust generated by the sail to the boat. The invention can be used in the nautical industry.
