<p>A method for the production of alkylaromatics for use in detergents, is new. The method of producing alkylaromatic involves: (a) reacting olefin and feed aromatics with solid alkylation catalyst to form alkylaromatic in the on-stream alkylation zone (110) at alkylating conditions ( at least a portion of the catalyst is deactivated in the alkylation zone and on-stream effluent comprising alkyl aromatics and feed aromatics is ejected); (b) passing a portion of on-stream effluent to rectifier (150), where the effluent is separated into rectifier overhead stream (comprising feed aromatics and depleted in alkyl aromatics) and rectifier bottom stream (comprising feed aromatic and enriched in alkyl aromatics); (c) recycling a portion of overhead stream to an on-stream alkylation zone; (d) passing at least a portion of rectifier bottom stream to fractionation zone and separating at least a portion of rectifier bottom stream into fractionation overhead and bottom streams; (e) recovering alkyl aromatics from the fractionation bottom stream; (f) passing at least a portion of fractionation overhead stream to off-stream alkylation zone (120) containing at least partially deactivated solid alkylation catalyst and contacting at least partially deactivated solid alkylation catalyst in the off-stream alkylation zone with at least a portion of fractionation overhead stream to partially regenerate the catalyst and to produce regenerated catalyst in off-stream alkylation zone and withdrawing the off-stream effluent; (g) passing it to a rectifier or fractionation zone; and (h) periodically shifting the functions of on and off-streams alkylation zones by operating zone (120) to function as zone (110) in steps (a) and (c) and operating zone (110) to function as zone (120) in step (f).</p> |
