APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING BS DIGITAL BROADCAST

An improved BS digital broadcasting receiving device comprising first to thi rd filters and a selective complex operation circuit. The first to third filter s (18) to (20) specify a modulation method applied to the received signal, wit h modulation identification signals (A0) and (A1) respectively received from a timing generation circuit (25) and filters a phase error signal (PED) in accordance with the specified modulation method. A selective complex operati on circuit (21) shifts the phases of signal points indicated by I and Q signals (ADI1, ADQ1) the phases of which are made absolute by an absolute phase producing section (14) by the amounts corresponding to the phase error signa ls filtered by the first to third filters (18) to (20). The selective complex operation circuit (21) selects the phase error signal which corresponds to t he specified modulation method from the modulation identification signals (A0) and (A1) received from the timing generation circuit (25). In burst receptio n, therefore, the influence of the signal noise of the ODU on the error rate ca n be reduced as low as that in continuous reception.
