The invention relates to a mirror-holding plate comprising a central portion (4) provided with means (13) for fixing a mechanism to regulate the position of the plate relative to the chassis-housing of the outer rearview mirror and a peripheral portion (5) provided with means for fixing a mirror. The central portion (4) can be made of any plastic material, preferably prolypropylene, while at least the outer edge (6) of the peripheral portion (5) is made of an elastomer. The fixing means (9, 10) make it possible to assemble either a flat mirror (10) or a curved convex mirror (12). The invention can be used in the automobile industry.
